#WeLeadComms: Ana-Maria Calin

Today, the #WeLeadComms spotlight falls on Prague-based communication leader Ana-Maria Calin.

In her words:

“Originally from Romania, I am a communications leader based in Prague, Czech Republic, with 20 years of experience in strategic communication across international environments. A long-standing passion for multilingual communication has shaped my professional journey, allowing me to leverage this skill as a tool for connection, cultural understanding, and impact across borders. My career has developed at the intersection of entrepreneurship and in-house leadership roles within communication and marketing.

“This blended background has shaped my approach to communication and collaboration into a very practical one. Experiencing both sides of the table, building initiatives from scratch as well as delivering within complex organizations, has taught me that moving projects forward and tangible results are what matter most.

“Throughout my career, I have worked across a wide range of fields, including NGOs, agencies, and corporate environments, on both the client and consultancy sides. I have also been active across diverse areas of communication, such as PR and media relations, marketing, internal and executive communication, employer branding, and events. This breadth of experience has made me a versatile communication leader, able to move comfortably between strategy and execution while adapting messages to different audiences and cultural contexts.

“I currently lead the Communication and Culture function at Fortuna Entertainment Group, the largest omnichannel sports betting and gaming operator in Central Europe. In this role, I define and drive the strategy for internal communication, employer branding, corporate events, and the well-being agenda at Group headquarters. I also work closely with senior leaders and advise executive team members on their communication approach and leadership presence.

“At the core of my work is a strong belief that employees are the foundation of any organization and its most valuable resource. I see communication as the key to unlocking this potential. I lead with a strong focus on people, trust, and psychological safety, and I am committed to building reliable and respectful relationships within my team. A positive and engaging work environment is essential to deliver meaningful results in the long run.

“My leadership style is guided by integrity, curiosity, and a lifelong passion for learning. I believe in listening before speaking, asking the right questions, and using humor as a powerful tool to create connection and spark engagement.

“Outside of work, I am a proud mother of two energetic boys who remind me every day of the importance of patience, playfulness, and perspective.”
