Bio: Courtney Malengo is the Founder + Chief Communicator of Spark + Buzz Communications, an award-winning, woman-owned strategic communications consultancy that helps brands and businesses tell their story to inspire audiences and galvanize growth. From concept to completion, Spark + Buzz designs creative and integrated branding, marketing, and public relations solutions. As a passionate communicator and brand strategist with 22 years’ experience, Courtney holds an accreditation in public relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America, a bachelor’s in English writing from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania, and a master’s in communication and organizational leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She also received a Wine Marketing certificate from UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. Courtney’s strategic and actionable insights have led to business growth, brand recognition, and enhanced employee engagement for countless clients. Prior to launching Spark + Buzz, she served in a variety of leadership roles in marketing, branding, and communications across seemingly disparate industries, from non-profits and faith-based organizations to senior living and healthcare. As a former journalist, the constant thread has always been helping organizations and executives communicate and tell their story, in a sincere and unique way, weaving a cohesive narrative both internally and externally. She is also the Founder of The Spark Collective, a social, faith-based membership community in the D.C.-area encouraging female founders and business owners in their entrepreneurial journeys, and the creator of The Spark Summit, an annual day retreat for faith-led female founders held each May. In Courtney’s spare time, you’ll find her enjoying family, exploring epicurean adventures with lavender, creating bespoke experiences, and celebrating life with a glass of bubbly.
