Copper Consultancy, a leading strategic communications agency for the infrastructure industry, is launching a new initiative for communication professionals in the UK and Ireland. The 2030 Collective is a network for communication leaders in infrastructure, energy, and the transition towards a more sustainable economy.

Created and hosted by Copper, The 2030 Collective is designed to foster collaboration, ideas exchange, and strategic discussions at a pivotal time for the infrastructure industry. The name was chosen to mark critical milestones in clean energy, water, transport, and housing.

The new network will recognise the critical importance of bringing together professionals in the infrastructure sector. Collaboration within the sector is essential to assisting the UK in meeting its commitments to net zero and achieving economic growth. Infrastructure underpins the UK’s future ambitions of having a better connected, more efficient, and more sustainable economy. The 2030 Collective hopes to facilitate the conversations that will create this springboard of growth.

Ben Heatley, managing partner at Copper Consultancy, says: “Between now and 2030, there is an enormous amount of work to be done. The energy industry will need to transition to renewables, and the water industry will need to invest billions to reduce leaks, discharges, and build capacity. New sustainable transport networks need to be constructed, and heavy industry will need to decarbonise. This process will generate thousands of jobs and billions of pounds of investment. But all change requires effective communication to ensure that it is understood, that the benefits are realised, and that people affected can see that they have a voice.”

He adds: “Driving that communications programme forward can be fascinating and enormously rewarding as we see positive change happening around us – but also demanding, and lonely at times. Communicators from different industries and across the country, who are committed to delivering sustainable change, have few opportunities to exchange ideas, share best practice, and learn from our peers. That is why we are establishing The 2030 Collective: to give communications leaders from numerous industries a space to build connections, to learn from one another, and share ideas about how we can achieve positive change.”

Members will be invited to Copper-hosted events across the UK and Ireland, including in Glasgow, London, Cardiff, and Dublin.

Furthermore, The 2030 Collective will be hosting a summit for the community in October 2024 in Dumfries and Galloway. The summit will give communication leaders across the UK and Ireland an unmatched opportunity to come together, share insights, and plan together for the future of the sector.
