Strategic is growing.
We’re getting new followers, new readers, and new columnists.
And, we’re branching out in two new directions.
We’ve launched our own awards program. And we’re initiating a series of expert-led mastermind groups.
Why are we doing this?
On the awards side, our view is that there aren’t enough opportunities for good work to get evaluated, critiqued, measured and recognized, particularly by a global community of peers.
We also believe there is much that the profession can learn from quality work – and our position as a top publication in the communication leadership space gives us a unique platform for collecting, analyzing and showcasing effective and innovative work that deserves wider attention.
On the Mastermind side – we’re keen on growing into the leadership and community space, and our team of columnists have a lot to add in both of these areas. Conversely, top practitioners often note the isolation of their roles and the limited opportunities for in-depth engagement on relevant issues with peers and colleagues.
Full disclosure: we’re also doing it for another reason – we are looking to build a sustainable business that will allow us to continue to deliver our daily content for free.
People ask us why we don’t sell subscriptions.
We’ve tried it.
And we discovered that it defeats the purpose of what we’re trying to achieve.
There are a lot of stuck conversations in the #Comms world – how do we prove our value, when will leaders give us our seat at the table, and when will AI take our jobs being the ones we hear most loudly.
We don’t have definitive answers.
But we have dozens of contributors who share their perspectives, experiences and stories to help practitioners find their own answers.
To do that, we don’t charge for subscriptions, and we offer ourselves as a unique third-party platform that allows people with well-thought opinions and well-earned experiences to share them with the broader profession.
That in turn, is allowing us to develop a brand on the basis of our contribution to the #Comms community, the quality of our content, and the commitment to providing new input to the profession daily.
So, we continue to pursue sponsorships, and we are creating these two initiatives to support our daily work to move our profession forward.
We’re proud of what we’ve done so far – and we’re excited to be doing more in the coming year.
