#WeLeadComms: Kristin Ebanks

Today’s #WeLeadComms honors go to Seattle-based communication leader Kristin Ebanks.

In her words:

“After spending 20 years in strategic communications, specifically in the humanitarian sector, I’ve come to the realization that nothing has changed about me. It is also true that everything has changed.

“I wanted to do good in the world from my days as a child, and I knew even then that I had an ability to use communication to move people to a better place. It was a natural fit for me to spend the majority of my career at World Vision, one of the largest Christian humanitarian organizations in the world, to try to make life better for some of the most vulnerable children. Every role I held – from writer to editor to publications manager – was predictable until I became Director of Leader Communications.

“That’s when my life began to shift, because I came to see that I could influence major powerholders more powerfully by working with executives than in any other role I had before. I helped the top leaders of a $3 billion dollar organization working in 100 countries to cultivate their voice, presence, profile, and engagements to attract attention to the organization and invite greater opportunities.

“After leaving World Vision, I founded my own business called LeadTrue to reach more global leaders and have an even greater impact. This was my way of carrying on the vision and passion I had to help leaders grow in influence so that they could reach their maximum potential.

“In this first year of business, I have continued working with leaders in the humanitarian sector, written three books, been featured on numerous magazine covers, and produced 50 videos and more than 30 newsletter articles on leadership insights free to the public.

“My focus now is on helping leaders, founders, and professionals to grow in influence and authority through my program, The Authority Rise. I want to help as many people as I can to develop the skills to become more visible, trusted, and credible so that they can position for expansion.

“I have long been passionate about helping people to lead with heart, strength, and faith. I discovered that these elements enabled people to best lead with authenticity, humanity, character, and conviction – principles that I live by. My work has always been an expression of my love for God and people, and as a way for me to serve others.”
