#WeLeadComms: Sneha Bhattacharjee

India-based communication leader Sneha Bhattacharjee is today’s #WeLeadComms honoree.

In her words:

“My professional journey has been shaped by two worlds that often operate differently, but for me, have always been deeply connected — journalism and corporate communication.

“I began my career in journalism, where I learned the discipline of listening, asking the right questions, gathering the right stories and making sense of complexity. Working in fast-paced editorial desks of leading newspapers, I developed an instinct for what makes a story relevant, credible and worth paying attention to. It was not just about writing or editing a story — it was about understanding people, context and the weight of information. That experience continues to influence how I approach communication even today.

“Transitioning into corporate communication brought a different dimension. The environment was more structured, the stakeholders more layered and the expectations more strategic. Here, communication was not just about telling stories, but about aligning people, building clarity and supporting organisational priorities. I found myself working closely with leadership, translating business goals into narratives that employees could understand and connect with.

“Over time, I have come to see these two phases of my career complementing each other. Journalism taught me how to observe and interpret the world with honesty and nuance. Corporate communication has helped me apply that understanding within organisations — shaping narratives that are not only clear, but also meaningful and responsible.

“A large part of my work has involved navigating complexity — whether it is communicating change, engaging diverse audiences, or building coherence across multiple stakeholders. My biggest learning has been that effective communication is rarely about saying more; it is about saying what matters, in a way that people can trust and act on.

“My ambition going forward is to deepen this intersection of storytelling and strategy. For me, communication should not be seen as a function, rather as a lever for culture, alignment as well as impact. I want to continue working in environments where there is space to think, build and shape how organisations communicate with intent — especially in areas that influence how people experience work, change and growth.

“For me, communication will always remain about clarity, connection and the responsibility that comes with shaping how people understand the world around them.”
