Today’s #WeLeadComms honoree is India-based communication leader Nandini Chatterjee
In her words:
“I have spent over three decades in corporate communications and brand strategy, working across consulting, chemicals, electronics, infrastructure, logistics and steel. The thread running through my work has been the strong conviction that reputation is not a by-product of business success, but a strategic asset that sustains it.
“For over two decades at PwC India, I was a member of the global communications leadership team, advising on reputation risk, crisis response, and stakeholder trust in a highly regulated and visible professional services environments in the country. I led a team of nearly 50 professionals, functioning as a full service in-house marketing and communications unit.
“A defining phase during my time at PwC was contributing to the firm’s reputation rebuilding efforts following the Satyam Computer Services accounting scandal, a moment that underscored the importance of credibility, transparency and sustained stakeholder engagement.
“More recently, at Shree Cement, I worked as a strategic advisor, shaping the company’s ESG and sustainability positioning in a hard to abate sector, while also strengthening internal communications as a lever for culture building and employee alignment across a large, geographically dispersed organisation.
“I do believe that communications, when done well, earns its place as a strategic function, and not a support one. I am now focused on working with boards and leadership teams to position reputation as a strategic enterprise risk, helping organisations navigate crises, regulatory scrutiny and the evolving challenges of digital and AI led ecosystems. I am particularly keen to engage with global MSMEs and startups entering India, offering senior counsel on navigating the country’s complex media landscape, stakeholder environment and cultural context.
“I serve on the Advisory Board of ThinkSharp Foundation, which focuses on bridging the education divide between rural and urban India. I also host Comms and Conversations, my vodcast series with over 30 episodes featuring industry leaders discussing the future of marketing, PR and communications. On 1 April 2026, I launched My Take on Communications, a weekly reel series across my social media platforms, where I will share perspectives from my journey in PR and communications, specially for those starting out in the field.
“I was inducted into the PR Hall of Fame by the Public Relations Council of India, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Corporate Communications from Exchange4Media, was named among the 100 Most Influential Professionals in Indian PR by Reputation Today and among the 100 Leaders Defining Modern Communication by India Startup Times.
