#WeLeadComms: Luiz Campolongo

Brazilian communication leader and entrepreneur Luiz Campolongo is today’s #WeLeadComms honoree.

Luiz has spent the last 17+ years immersed in corporate communication, watching it evolve from static intranets to dynamic, people-centered platforms.

He’s the founder of HyWork, a Brazilian corporate intranet and internal communications platform that today powers more than 300 active portals and reaches over a million employees across organizations in Brazil and beyond.

What drives Luiz isn’t the technology itself — it’s the belief that internal communication, when done right, becomes the backbone of culture, trust and performance inside a company. Over the years, he’s worked closely with HR, Internal Communications and L&D leaders to understand a recurring truth: most organizations don’t struggle with a lack of channels, they struggle with making the right information reach the right person, at the right moment, in a way that actually builds engagement rather than noise.

That insight has shaped HyWork’s evolution — from a traditional intranet provider into a broader platform encompassing training (HyWork Capacitação), a marketplace of ready-to-use solutions (HyStore), and AI-powered tools that help communicators move faster without losing the human touch.

Beyond building HyWork, Luiz has recently turned his attention toward deepening his own expertise in Internal Communications as a discipline — studying the work of practitioners and researchers worldwide, engaging more actively with the IC community, and sharing what he learns on LinkedIn. He’s also preparing to launch a podcast featuring conversations with IC and Communications professionals, with the goal of giving more visibility to the everyday challenges — and wins — of communicators inside real organizations, including industries like logistics, manufacturing and retail that don’t always get the spotlight in IC conversations.

Luiz’s ambition for the years ahead is twofold: to keep helping Brazilian companies build stronger internal communication practices through technology, and to contribute more actively to the global IC conversation — bringing a Latin American perspective to a profession that, in his view, deserves far more strategic recognition than it often receives.

He believes the next chapter for Internal Communications isn’t about more tools — it’s about communicators being trusted as strategic partners, not just executors. And he’s committed to being part of that shift.
