India-based communication leader Aparna Iyer is today’s #WeLeadComms honoree.

Aparna is a strategic and creative communications leader with over a decade of experience spanning journalism, brand storytelling, and public relations. She currently leads Corporate Communications and PR for Wayfair India where she drives the company’s communications strategy, strengthens brand reputation, and builds visibility across internal and external stakeholders.

Aparna began her career in journalism, spending over a decade in India’s leading newsrooms including Times of India, Deccan Herald and NDTV where she developed a sharp editorial sense and a deep understanding of diverse audiences. This foundation has shaped her approach to brand and corporate communications – bringing clarity, nuance, and narrative depth to every message.

As a journalist, she extensively covered education, law, environment, wildlife, and compelling human-interest stories. Through these stories, she contributed to building public awareness and amplifying conversations around important social issues and community impact. This experience sharpened her ability to identify authentic narratives, engage diverse audiences, and communicate with both empathy and impact.

She has also been associated as a mentor and program manager with an organization supporting independent and grassroots journalism. Leveraging her expertise in several Indian languages, she managed and mentored over 20 independent digital media outlets across regional and national markets, helping them strengthen their  storytelling, and audience reach.

Aparna is passionate about the power of storytelling to drive business value and build trust—internally and externally. With a strong command over media relations, stakeholder communications, and strategic messaging, she helps brands craft narratives that resonate, differentiate, and deliver measurable impact.
